Buy me a star an the boulevard

We went to visit our art, during the easter holidays off spring went to the Whitworth and joined in a family workshop which took about three mornings of work and now it's on display. A design was taken from drawings and made into tiles, this is grandmas drawing made into a tile by mother.
Then there were boxes covered with strips of the drawing photocopied...well anyway the artist had the big idea and we grafted away and here is the result. It's in gallery 10 if you want to go and have a look.

This is first born's tile, they both worked really hard and perhaps they are used to have their stuff up on walls here and there, so perhaps the Whitworth is no great shakes really, it's only certain people who think that sort of thing is a big deal.

Laisser le bon temps rouler

This cake fest was all about younger sibling's birthday at home. It was marked by the huge piece of chocolate fudge cake she decided to scoff, and the hilarity of everyone gamely having a go at bowling on the wii. These folks were determined to engage in the gentle art of conversation, aunty Bonn seems rather reflective " shall I chance another slice of cake?" she muses.

Grandmas doing t for themselves, standing on theri own two feet and getting more pomme tarte and cream.
This candid shot of aunty Soup mid scoff will require payback no doubt, the aim of this gathering was eating your body weight in cake, younger sibling had seemed to believe that catering for a small army was best.
Dudes bowling, it has proved quite a hit and great for everyone to join in. We are learning the new language of mii and nunchuk.

All the changes you put me through.

No Easter holiday can be complete without some advanced cultural outing, so we went with a load of people from the other end of the catchment area to a sculpture park to do a workshop. They did some sketching of various things, and heard the story of this totem pole, first born was rubbing buttercups in to get some colour going. Note the sculpture in the background, younger sibling felt this may be an octopus under a flat.
After lunch they made a mythical creature and a normal one, their group made a minotaur, and a horse. You may be able to appreciate the problems we had with horns, until Gary gave us some clay and these rather fetching horns.
Which first born is working into the piece. It perhaps has a hint of pig about the face but generally some rather fine work.

Younger sibling was flagging a bit by this point and gave herself to some reflection.

If it looks like this..then you're doing it right.

When the sneaky, crazy looking chicken had her completely engrossed in it's plummage, BAM it made the most ear splitting noise and frightened the b'jeebers out of her. That's a nervous, "I'll have you in a stew" look.
Poised to do the slide, no idea who the toddler trapped behind them is, let's hope he made it out alive. Yes we really do like aerial runways, elderly relative in the background is indicating where to go.
There were some rather funky orange pigs with spots, next seasons fashion must have, who am I kidding, next seasons rare breed sausages.

All the young Dudes

It's the Easter holidays so we neded a girl's day out. Off to Chesire where the opportunites for wholesome leafy recreation abound. There was a great park to play on. We do like an aerial runway, today's encounter was different as offspring kept insiting that they would do it themselves....no pushing required, well except for the bit where it goes up hill on the way back, and a discrete push saved them having to get off and drag it back up to the landing.
After a hearty lunch there was a farm, we bought goat food, and the goats were really pleased to see us.

One of the glamorous cousins came too, Younger sibling found a rather fascinating chicken, who had a very amusing arrangement of feathers, quite engrossing.
