Here's one we made earlier.

As I'm sure we're all aware today is World Book Day, and our school asked for everyone to come to school dressed as their favourite book character. The journey to school, and the hanging around in the playground was very interesting as a result.
There were lots of Harry Potters, lots of witches...no doubt wise parents were squeezing value from those Halloween costumes they forked out for. Some lovely handcrafted ones...Wally from the 'Where's Wally?' books, a rather lovely Little Red Riding Hood and loads of Hermnione Graingers.

Then there are our representatives. As the revered artist says ' Ken yah see wot it is yit?' ( Think Rolf Harris!)

First born was very tempted by Hermione Grainger, but upon reflecting that everyone would want to be her, and shop bought robes were unlikely to win prizes there was a rethink and tah dah here she is as Nancy Drew ( teenage detective). The charity shops round about are depleted after all pater familias' hard work.
Younger sibling was adamant from the off that she was going to be Dobby the house elf, so here she is, thanks to grandma with cats for the pillow slips and a rather good swim hat from Decathlon, oustanding art work from pater, and her own modelling of a nose from a large car sponge. Pater had made a fine one with great care, but she really wanted to make her own, so there it is.
Please leave us a comment to say who you would have dressed up as if you had been invloved.

  1. Amy would have been dressed up as the hungry caterpillar, uncle Steve as Max from "where the wild things are?" and auntie Vero would stay in bed waiting for her holiday snaps to turn up.... she's sleeping beauty waiting for her prinssss!!!! (geddit?)
