Can't stop moving

At last......we got organised and went to get the right size bike for younger sibling, her first proper bike, chosen by her in the fancy bike shop in town. It has 6 gears and mudguards.
The first few set offs were a bit scary but she persisted and was soon zooming around confidently, seen only as a small dot in the far distance of the park. No more comedic monkey on a circus bike for us.

At last......it stopped raining for three or four days and September is proving balmy. Also here are some suitably blurry photos of the very brave elbow, which is now looking much improved and has no stitches at all. Stoical younger sibling took it all in her stride and really just wanted to forget about it by the second day. See? All better now.

Can't keep still

The new addition to the family. There he is, pater familias at the wheel. Don't think we need to say more really.

I can lead a nation with a microphone

No explanation necessary really, this is where we come from. Pater took these during one of his odysseys round Gunchester. This week has included a trip to casualty on Saturday night, and then off to get the nurse to take the stitches out today (blimey we thought we might be able to wait till their late teens before this happened).
The vicar and his wife came round for tea, they coped well with curry bhajis and dahl. It's been work work work, and mother is not relishing turning up yet again tomorrow to be a wage slave some more.
Still it all pays the bills.

A reading from Dr Seuss

Wednesday 3 September marked the return to school, younger sibling is now year 1 and first born is year 4.
They were up bright and early on the first day, straight into crisp uniforms and bright with expectation, ( see pics).
Next day there was the general dragging of feet and the clarion call " hurry up with your breakfast! We're going to be late", the day after that younger sibling was found lolling on the sofa trying out the old fable which is " I don't feel wellllllllll............"
What a wonderful thing is education.

I ain't got time for nothing else

Due to the adverse weather conditions the summer holidays have been a bit limited, so as our grand finale we went to Eureka! the children's museum for a day out.

We have been visiting for years as our first visit predates the offspring, we brought our nephew and niece when they were younger.
The offspring are very fond of it and it seems strangely homey these days.
They both have their favourite bits, and have always enjoyed the downstairs where you get to be a postman, go to the shop and fill up your car with petrol, hilarious that all the mundane parts of life that the elderly parents sigh over become the subject of absorbed play....where did it all go wrong we muse.
Though pater familias demonstrates that it is possible to get in touch with your inner child still.

Busy, busy, busy, it was a long day out, and then it was back to school that week, and our playing became much curtailed, Shame!

Nothing sweet

We are experiencing technical difficulties here, one of our hard rives is feeling unwell and pater familias is ministering to it patiently in the hope that it will rally.

Meanwhile we are whiling away the end of the summer hols, dodging the heavy showers and getting our PE kit ready for the big day tomorrow.

We hope that in the next day or two we shall be able to restore vision, there are some all action shots of the team, and the usual firstdayofnewschoolyearuniformscritchy photo op is eagerly anticipated.
