Paaartaaay

Negotiating birthday parties can be a tricky business, the delicate balance between what the birthday girls aspires to and what the crumbling parents can a) cope with b) afford. The months of agonising over the guest list, whose in, whose out and how many people we can afford to feed, then the activity to be undertaken, bowling? pictures? skating? stuffing bears? it all begins to sound like a greek odyssey. So at last the day dawned grey and the battle machine creaked into action.

There was swimming, there was mass getting dressed and retrieving clothing and towels, there was pizza, cake and balloons, and finally the happy guests were dropped off at home. Phew.

Here we spy pater familias and aunty Soup looking cheery as the end is nigh, they have a caffeine based beverage to hand and no one is dead...yet.
It actually all went 'swimmingly', the guests behaved impeccably, everyone had a good time and ate heartily and the birthday girl thought it all went well. No doubt we shall look back fondly on these days, when we are coping with older, lager fuelled nightmares which involve stitches and trips to pick people up from the cells.
Now just a month or two to go before the next celebrations break out......paragliding or fire walking as a birthday activity??

Fairy Life.

Once upon a recent weekend, younger sibling was 'belaxing' and felt she would get in touch with her fairy heritage, so here she is. As usual the fairies are going to school, and will be getting ready for flying lessons, look on it as psychodrama if you will, but most of the challenge is in the fine mototr field as those dratted pixies are rather small and do tend to fall over a lot.
So when do we stop wanting to play fairies? Do the fairy games just transform into something else? How would it be if we all got out a few fairies or....whatever was your 'thang' and spent half an hour on the weekend re-enacting scenes with plastic figures? Wither the fairy self?

It is the Dawning of the Age of Aquarius.

Here we go for the 8th solar return for first born, please feel free to insert your own preferred cliche around the 'hasn't time flown' and 'my how they grow up so fast' theme.

Now she stands firmly on the planet as her own person the onus is on encouraging the organismic self and avoiding unhelpful introjects, what a beautiful thing is a human psyche.

This week saw a new self 'Golden Child of the week' which for those in the know is a most fabulous achievement, which shall only pale next to the Nobel Prize, though they are giving those out like smarties these days.

Little sister is being a bit rough with pater familias and insisting he signs contracts for all essential jobs....she likes to know where she stands.

Here Comes Weekend,

It's the magic hour when Brownies beckons and we're waiting for something after tea.

Have a happy weekend team, and get some sleep.
